Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the behavior of Concrete Filles steel tubular flange girders (CFTFGs) fabricated from different steel grades (370 – 690 – 960) MPa. This article focuses on the effect of using high-strength steel especially S690 which is highly used in bridge construction in recent years. C80 (self-compact concrete) was used to fill the upper tubular flange to enhance beam capacity and prevent local failure which may occur under the two concentrated loads. Beam capacity was investigated, and Non-linear numerical models (F.E) were developed using the ABAQUS software package. A parametric study of simply supported girders with two concentrated loads has been conducted, considering mainly the influences of the concrete and steel grade on the behavior of the CFTFGs. Consequently, a new design model has been suggested. Finally, the effect of web buckling due to bending has been investigated and we prove that using concrete on the upper tube will Improve local buckling capacity for Tubular flange girders (TFGs).
