Abstract
Soils have interconnected voids that form many tortuous tiny tubes that allow waterto flow. Being ableto calculate the quantity of water flowing through a soil and the forces associatedwith this flow is crucial to the design of various civil engineering structures, suchas earth dams, concrete dams, and retaining walls. Symmetric Concrete Dam Problem Calculate the flow rate of seep-age per unit length and uplift pressures under the concrete dam. The dam is 20 m high and has a 60-m-wide base. The dam is underlain by a 90-m-thick soil with=0.0001m/s. The water in the reservoir is 12 m high. The concrete dam is assumed to be very long in they-direction. Themain results were: relationship between sheet pile length and flow rate. It can be noted that, the increase in length of the sheet pile, decrease in value of flow rate . Which means it is an inverse relationship. The increase in length of the sheet pile, increase in value of the uplift pressure under sheet pile . Which means that it is an direct relationship.
